Aren't these real estate platforms basically just REITs?

To me, "fractional real estate" and crowdfunding just seem like REITs, except I have to leave my money tied up for 5 years. What's the benefit?

Publicly traded REITs are subject to the stock market's volatility. When you go with a crowdfunding platform, you don't have to worry about the ups and downs of stocks because the investment is not on the stock market.
